Bangladesh lost to Australia by 54 runs in the first quarter-final of the Hong Kong International Sixes tournament today. Batting first, Australia scored 149 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 6 overs. Chasing, Bangladesh’s innings was stopped at 95 for 5 wickets.

The Australian team unleashed a barrage of attacks on Bangladesh’s bowlers in two fifties in this match held in Mong Kok. Opener Ben McDermott retired heartily after scoring 51 runs off 14 balls with 8 sixes. Australian captain Alex Cross, who scored 50 runs off 11 balls with 7 sixes and 1 four, also retired heartily. William Boshistow scored 30 runs off 6 balls.

Australia, who have booked their place in the semi-finals, will face Pakistan in the final. Pakistan defeated South Africa by 5 wickets in the second quarter-final today.

Chasing 102 for 3 in South Africa, Pakistan won in 3.5 overs. Pakistani opener Abdul Samad scored an unbeaten 50 off 10 balls with 8 sixes. Khawaja Nafai was dismissed for 36 off 13 balls. Samad won the match by hitting five consecutive sixes in the last over bowled by Proteas bowler Jordan Morris. Australia and Pakistan will face each other in the semi-finals tomorrow.
