Ward No. 20 Champion
The exciting final of the ‘Abidur Rahman Sohel Football Tournament-2025’ organized by the Youth and Sports Department of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Bogra City Branch was held on Saturday. Ward No. 20 defeated Gokul Union 1-0 in a fiercely competitive game and became the undefeated champion.
In the first half of the final match held at the football field adjacent to Shahid Chandu Stadium in the morning, there was a fierce battle for possession of the ball, but neither team could score a goal. At the beginning of the second half, Ward No. 20 took the lead 1-0 with Shahin Mia’s brilliant goal. Gokul Union tried hard but failed to score in the remaining time, but Ward No. 20 achieved the glory of becoming the champion.
After the game, Abidur Rahman Sohel, the Ameer of the Bogra City Branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the Jamaat-nominated MP candidate for Bogra-6 (Sadar) constituency, handed over a bull and a cow to the champion team and a khasi to the runner-up team.

The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Professor Abdus Salam Tuhin, the President of the Youth and Sports Department of Bogra City Jamaat. The Nayeb Ameer of the city Jamaat, Maulana Alamgir Hossain, Maulana Abdul Hamid Beg, Secretary Professor A.S.M. Abdul Malek were special guests.
Among others, Assistant Secretary Professor Rafiqul Alam, Ed. Al-Amin, Selim Reza, former councilor of Ward No. 8 of Bogra Municipality Ershadul Bari Ershad, Ed. Shahin Mia, Vice President of Youth and Sports Department Enamul Haque Rana, Secretary Professor Abdul Hadi Shafiq, Co-Secretary Professor Namirul Haque Zarjis, Tournament Committee Member Secretary Mustafa Mughal, Tournament Committee Members Abdul Wadud, Abu Safian Palash, Mokammel Haque, Azizul Haque, Fazlul Karim, Bipul, Shariful Islam Sohel, Ward No. 20 Amir Shamsuzzaman, Gokul Union Amir Maulana Lutfar Rahman, etc.
A large number of spectators enjoyed the exciting final game.
Senior referee Jibril Babu conducted the final match, assisted by Abdul Mannan, Sofi Mamun and Jewel. Prayers were offered for the late Hasan, a player of Ward No. 20, at the award ceremony. Hasan died while undergoing treatment in the hospital after being injured in the semi-final match. The organizers expressed deep sorrow over the death of the late Hasan and expressed their sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased.
It is worth noting that the Abidur Rahman Sohel Football Tournament-2025 was organized by 32 branches of Bogra city Jamaat. In the first stage, games were held at four venues. The semi-finals were held at Altafunnesa playground with the champion team of each venue.
