Malaysia’s Virandeep Singh – The name is not very familiar in international cricket. However, if you are familiar with Malaysian cricket, this name may come to your ears.

That Virandeep has now created a new record in international T20s. This spin bowling all-rounder is now the first cricketer to score 3000 runs and take 100 wickets in international T20s.

Virandeep set the record today in Kuala Lumpur, in a Mini SEA Cricket Tournament match against Bahrain. When he entered the field, he had 99 wickets. He took 3 more with left-arm spin. The team also won by 4 wickets. Bahrain scored 107 runs. Malaysia chased that run and won with 1 ball and 4 wickets in hand. Virandeep also played an innings of 23 runs with the bat.

Virandeep entered the 3,000-run club in July this year. He reached that milestone by scoring 36 runs against Samoa in the Asia Pacific Cricket Champions Trophy in Singapore.

However, Virandeep’s feat may be shared soon. Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raja is very close. He has 2846 runs and 102 wickets in international T20s. And if he can score just 154 runs, he will sit next to Virandeep.

Raja recently took his 100th wicket. He achieved this feat in the tri-nation series against Pakistan on November 20. He is now the second bowler from Zimbabwe to take 100 wickets in T20s.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Nabi have 2000 runs and 100 wickets in international T20s.

Shakib, however, has already retired from T20s. While playing Tests in India last year, he said that he played the last T20 of his career in the last T20 World Cup. Shakib has 2551 runs and 149 wickets in this edition.

The 40-year-old Nabi has 2417 runs and 104 wickets in international T20Is. How long he will play is also a question.
