Khulna scores 302 for 9 on Soumya’s fifty

The last four-day match of the 27th National Cricket League (NCL) season at the NCL Bogra venue began on Saturday at Shahid Chandu Stadium. Batting first, Khulna scored 302 for 9 at the end of the day, riding on Soumya Sarkar’s fifty.

After winning the toss in the morning, the Rangpur division captain sent Khulna to bat. The two openers, Amit Majumdar and Soumya Sarkar, attacked the Rangpur bowlers from the start. Khulna lost their first wicket for 97 runs. Soumya scored 56 runs off 55 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six before being bowled directly by Nasir Hossain.

Then, Khulna came under immense pressure when Amit Majumdar (27) and Enamul Haque Bijoy (6) were dismissed at the top of the order at 108 runs. Team captain Mithun and wicketkeeper batsman Imranuzzaman batted cautiously and took the team to 164 runs.

After Muhammad Mithun returned to the dressing room with 164 runs, the team’s score crossed 300 runs with the help of Imranuzzaman (34), Afif Hossain (21), Ziaur Rahman (36), Nahidul Islam (30), Mehedi Hasan Rana (28).

At the end of the first day, Khulna’s score stood at 302 runs for 9 wickets. Khulna’s Nasir Hossain took the highest 3 wickets. Besides, Mukidul Islam and Sohel Rana took 2 wickets each.
