Bogra district has reached the semi-finals of the Young Tigers U-18 National Cricket Tournament organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Bogra district defeated arch-rivals Rajshahi district by 51 runs in their second match at the Chapainawabganj District Stadium, ensuring a place in the semi-finals.

Rajshahi district team won the toss in the morning on a wet pitch and sent Bogra to bat. Rifat was bowled directly off the first ball of the innings. Then, a terrible disaster befell the Bogra camp when the team lost the second wicket for 11 runs and the third wicket for 24 runs. Riyad Sheikh, the centurion of the previous match, formed a valuable partnership with opener Tanvir to deal with the team’s disaster. This partnership took the team to 100 runs. But despite Tanvir scoring 68 and Riyad scoring 41, no other batsman could stay at the crease for long. As a result, Bogra was all out for 168 runs.

Rajshahi’s Borhan and Ferdous took 2 wickets each.

Batting with an easy win target, Rajshahi kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Rajshahi did not get a chance to open their hands in front of the controlled bowling of Bogra’s bowlers. As a result, Rajshahi’s innings was wrapped up at 117 runs in 39.3 overs. Bogra won the match by 51 runs. Rajshahi’s Tanjidul scored the highest 26 and Ferdous scored 25 runs.

Bogra’s Shamsh Toufiq took 4 wickets, Siam 2, Akash and Rifat 1 wicket each. Bogra district secured the semi-finals by winning two consecutive matches. The last match of the group will be against Pabna district on December 28.
