The short pitch cricket tournament organized by the Youth and Sports Department of the Bogra Metropolitan Branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has started.
On Thursday afternoon, former central president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, central assistant secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, central president of the Youth and Sports Department Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair inaugurated the tournament by releasing colorful balloons at the historic Altafunnesa playground.
The special guests at the event were Amir Janneta Abidur Rahman Sohel and Secretary Professor A.S.M. Abdul Malek of Bogra Metropolitan Jamaat. Abdus Salam Tuhin, president of the Youth and Sports Department, Bogra Metropolitan, presided over the event.
The inaugural event, moderated by Abdul Hadi Shafiq, secretary of the Youth and Sports Department of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jamaat, was attended by Dr. Moin Uddin, Assistant Secretary of Bogra Metropolitan Jamaat Al-Amin, Selim Reza, Publicity Secretary of Bogra District Jamaat Nur Mohammad Abu Taher, Business Leader Mahfuz Molla, Nurul Islam Akand, Shahin Mia, Member Secretary of Tournament Committee Mustafa Mughal, Members Georges Hossain, Bipul, Palash, A: Wadud, Mokammel, deloar hosen, Abu Hurayra etc.
In the opening match, City Young Star Club of Ward No. 8 defeated Brindabanpara Samaj Kalyan Foundation of Ward No. 2 by 41 runs. Winning the toss, Brindabanpara Samaj Kalyan Foundation decided to field. Batting first, City Young Star Club scored 88 runs for 4 wickets in 10 overs. In reply, Brindabanpara Samaj Kalyan Foundation was able to score 47 runs for 9 wickets.
It is worth noting that 32 teams from 21 wards and 11 unions under the Bogra Metropolitan Jamaat are participating in the tournament. Only Jamaat-e-Islami’s personnel will participate in each team. Earlier, the Youth and Sports Department had organized a successful football tournament with 32 branches.
