Cristiano Ronaldo opened up in the first part of an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan. In this intimate interview, Ronaldo talked about his career, achievements, retirement and love for football.

In the second part of the same interview, all the surprising comments of ‘CR Seven’ have also come to the fore. In which he explained the reason for not attending Diego Jota’s funeral, as well as talking about his goal-scoring ability, Saudi football and the World Cup.

Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva tragically died in a road accident last July. Several of his club and national team teammates attended Jota and his brother’s funeral in Portugal, but Ronaldo was absent. Ronaldo said that he did not attend Jota’s funeral. Because, he did not want the matter to turn into ‘a circus’.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said, “People criticize me a lot. I don’t mind. When your conscience is clear, you don’t need to worry about who said what. I don’t do one thing anymore, I haven’t been to a cemetery since my father died. Those who know me know that. Wherever I go, there is a crowd, there is a commotion, it’s like a circus.”

Ronaldo added, “I don’t go out. Because when I go, everyone’s eyes are on me. I don’t want that kind of attention. I saw that some people were giving interviews or talking about football at that sensitive moment, I don’t like it.”

In the second part of the interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo also talked about his goal-scoring ability, “Even in a bad season when Al Nasr didn’t win a trophy, I still scored 25 goals. If I was playing in the Premier League, I would still score the same goals. If I had been in a good team, I would have performed the same at 40.’

Ronaldo, who left Manchester United to join Al Nasr in December 2022, believes that the Saudi Pro League does not get the respect it deserves. Explaining why it is difficult to score goals in the Saudi League, Ronaldo said, ‘I don’t need to say anything on my own behalf. Because people can say whatever they want; but the numbers don’t lie. They talk about the Saudi League, but they have never been here, they have never played, they don’t know the hardship of running in 40-degree temperatures. Still, I say, the Saudi League is much, much better than the Portuguese League.’
