NCL four-day match
The bowlers emerged as even more formidable on the second day of the four-day match of the National Cricket League (NCL) at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogra. The bowlers took full advantage of the green grassy wicket. 15 wickets fell in one day. The two spinners of both teams, Rishad and Tanvir, are in a similar rhythm with the pacers in taking wickets. Barisal is not at ease despite tying Rangpur for a few runs. After losing 7 wickets in the second innings, the Barisal camp is in danger of defeat. At the end of the second day, Barisal’s total was 90 runs for 7 wickets. The lead is only 84 runs.
Rangpur’s batters, who started the previous day with 43 runs for 2 wickets, could not even attack the Barisal bowlers. Not a single batter from the team could score a fifty. No big partnership was formed amidst the falling wickets at regular intervals. After the failure of the top order, Nasir Hossain, Meem Mosaddek and captain Tanvir Haider tried to put up some resistance in the middle order but were unsuccessful. As a result, Rangpur’s first innings ended at 202 runs. The star-studded team got a lead of only 6 runs. Meem Mosaddek and Nasir Hossain scored the highest 37 runs for the team, while captain Tanvari Haider scored 30 runs. Barisal’s Ruel, Mishu and captain Tanvir Islam took 3 wickets each.
Although Rangpur was kept to a low score, the failure of the batsmen has raised fears of defeat in the Barisal camp. In the second innings, Barisal’s batters surrendered helplessly one after another in front of Rangpur’s bowlers. At the end of the second day, their total stood at 90 runs for 7 wickets. Tajamul is unbeaten on a maximum of 2 runs. Except for Zahiduzzaman (13) and Emon (12), no other batsman could reach double figures. Rimad Hossain, the most successful bowler for Rangpur, took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 6 overs. Pacer Mughad took 2 and Mehedi Hasan took 1 wicket.
