Bangladesh U-17s set a target of 272 runs to win against the visiting Sri Lanka U-17 cricket team, relying on Adrito’s unbeaten 103 runs. The Sri Lankans won the toss and sent the Bangladeshi youngsters into bat at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lt. Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday.
Bangladesh turned things around with the brave batting of Adrito, who came out to bat at number 3 despite the team losing its first wicket for 7 runs. After Naeem returned to the dressing room with 32 runs for the team’s 55 runs, Bogra’s son Akash Roy came in and formed a partnership with Adrito. This partnership took the team to 144 runs. Akash was out for 39 runs after giving a valuable partnership of 89 runs, but Adrito fought back and scored a century in the end. Bangladesh’s innings ended with 6 wickets in 50 overs. Adrito scored 103 runs unbeaten. His innings was studded with 8 fours and 2 huge sixes.
For the Sri Lankans, Himaru took 2 wickets, Kadithua, Giman Mendis and Lahiru Lakmal took 1 wicket each.
