Bogra district has become the Rajshahi divisional champion in the boys and girls categories of the Notun Kudi Sports-2026 under-14 cricket event organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In the final held at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium on Wednesday, the Bogra district team defeated the Rajshahi district team by 5 runs in the boys’ category and the Sirajganj district team by 4 wickets in the girls’ category.

After winning the toss against the Rajshahi district team, the Bogra district boys team batted first and scored 84 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 10 overs. For the team, Riaz scored 30 runs off 18 balls and Tahmid scored 19 runs off 14 balls. Afridi scored 10 runs off just 4 balls. Rajshahi’s Tamjid took 3 wickets and Tamim took 1 wicket. In reply, Rahat played a wonderful innings of 48 runs off 31 balls, but no other batsman of the team could stand at the crease. As a result, their innings was stopped at 79 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Bogra’s Tahmid took 3 wickets and Nirab took 2 wickets.

On the other hand, Sirajganj District won the toss and elected to bat first against Bogra and scored 55 runs for 2 wickets. Opener Fatema scored the highest 12 runs for the team. Bogra’s Tania took one wicket. In reply, Bogra girls secured victory by losing 5 wickets with 14 balls remaining. Tasfia scored 15 and Tania scored 13 runs unbeaten.

Bogra District Sports Officer Akram Hossain and BCB’s Bogra District Coach Rifat Hasan were present on the field to enjoy the boys and girls’ game and encourage the players. Those concerned expressed optimism that Bogra’s competition will bring good results in other events of the new bud as well.
